Everyone seems to always have an opinion about the things that don’t concern them. (Sometimes even I am guilty.) Some people want to dictate your life and put you down while at it. Even when you’re doing extremely well they don’t know how to be happy for you. And perhaps that is the problem; jealousy.
For instance, when I moved out of Philadelphia to go to a smaller town, but closer to a bigger city (New York), instead of being happy for me, a family member gave me their unsolicited opinion about my new residence. They could’ve said something along the line of, “Well, you’re quite the adventurer. I hope it works out for you.” Instead — in a seemingly sarcastic, antagonist tone — they said, “Why did you even move there?” Emphasizing perhaps that they would’ve chosen a different place. Well, too bad! This is what I chose and this is what makes me happy right now, I thought.
This invasion, as I see it, prompted me to rethink my relationship to these people, but most importantly it made me think about who really needs to be happy for you in order for you to really be happy in life. You!
So, the point is, as long as YOU are happy with your decisions, you’re GOOD to go! You’re on the right track. Don’t conform to everyone else’s pathetic low standards…or you’ll be quite pathetic, too. Climb mountains, swim seas, or skydive if that is what your heart desires! Cliche, but life can be so short. Go with what makes you happy and screw what everyone else thinks! Go on!
